Personal auto insurance doesn’t cover everything in your vehicle, such as items left inside a car. If someone breaks into your automobile, your auto insurance will cover damage to your vehicle. However, your auto insurance will not cover items stolen from your automobile.
For example, you return to your car to find that your car window was smashed, and your cell phone is now gone. The broken auto glass would be covered under the full glass coverage as a part of your auto policy. However, your auto policy would not cover the value of the cell phone. Those losses would fall under your homeowner policy—subject to your deductible. If deductibles apply to both your auto and homeowner insurance, you usually must pay the higher of the deductibles that apply.
