It’s hard to believe that June is right around the corner!
The first quarter was a busy one, with our team working on the Annual Umialik Agency Summit, the launch of our new Select Auto and Signature Auto products, and the launch of our new system.
Additionally, our Commercial Product Team assisted us with new commercial product offerings. As you may know, each year we focus on new product in commercial lines. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering expanded classes and coverages in the areas of Alarm Services, Animal Related Risks, Cosmetic Related Exposures, Health Clubs, Recreational, and Specialty Contractors, which will round out our Guides and Outfitters and Social Service Programs. Since these classes have common coverages, such as Abuse and Molestation, Professional Liability, and Enhancement Endorsements, we have branded these classes as Umialik Insurance Specialty Solutions.
So, how are we doing through April? The first quarter was a tough one with many weight of ice and snow claims across the state. However, we continue to perform well. Through April, we have achieved our commercial lines top line premium goals, and loss ratios continue to improve with the expectation we will reach our target goals before the summer’s end. Personal lines is slightly below our premium goals through April, but we expect steady improvement with the launch of our new products, Select Auto and Signature Auto. Bottom line? Profitability is ahead of goal, and we expect a profitable year.
